A rare selection with pretty pink flowers with deeper veins held well above the fine-cut foliage on upright stems to 25cm. Leafs up in winter and flowers in spring before dying back to tubers for the summer. Well drained soil in full sun.
Low clumps of finely cut leaves emerge during the winter before the flowers in Merch to May. 'Uln Oag Traig' has clearer pink flowers with a little less veining than other forms of Geranium macrostylum, well displayed on strong strems to 30cm. For a rockery or scree with well drained soil in full sun. The plant will die down for the summer immediately after flowering becomming totally dormant by July most years.
Because of the small tubers this species has it is best to avoid any invasive gardening (hoeing, forking etc) around Geranium macrostylum 'Uln Oag Triag' as it is very easy to inadvertantly spread it around the garden. It is this habit that has led to the slightyl unfair reputation of the species being invasive - it isn't unless you help it. A good way of avoiding any problems is to grow it in containers and shallow bowls work well for this, use a gritty compost and site in full sun.
Unknown origin.
