Masses of small blue flowers in spring. Alan Bremner's hybrid: a compact clump of leaves and the myriad of flowers are held erect for weeks in late April-May. Open or light shade, not too dry. 60cm.

An unusual looking plant with the bunched masses of small flowers from Geranium albiflorum but in an unusual bright lilac blue.  As the name suggests it is early flowering but not usually the first here.  The clumps of Geranium sylvaticum type leaves usually get to around 30cm tall with the strong upright flower stems to about double that, 60cm.  In dry or poor soils the heights can be considerably shorter.

A lovely addition to spring borders mixing well with wood anemones, Milium effusumn 'Aureum' and Polygonatum.  Geranium 'Prelude' can be cut back hard after flowering to promote a fresh crop of fresh green leaves.  Does best in good soil that doesn't dry out but is tolerant of worse conditions.
