A prairie grass from north America, this produces bristly heads of flower on upright plants to 1.5m. Ordinary soil in full sun. Good seedheads in autumn and winter.

Very rarely seen slow growing form with completely golden yellow new foliage fading to light green and single rich blue flowers in late winter and spring. 15cm.
