A brilliant dark purple leaved form of the hardy British native Vervain. Low scrambling clumps ideal for spilling through other plants and over the edges of containers or raised beds. Sun, drained soil. 50cm.

Not to be confused with the tender bedding verbenas, 'Bampton' is a truly hardy plant suitable for the garden.  The foliage is at it's best in full sun but it will tolerate some shade.  Masses of short spikes of pink flowers, bluer in cooler weather, for much of the summer and autumn.

Can be cut back to encourage further growth later in the season.

Out stock is propagated by cuttings from an excellent plant from Richard Hobbs with dark foliage.  Some people  offer inferior seed raised plants that can lack the best leaf colour.
