A tough, reliable hardy perennial with willowy stems to 1.2m topped with scented golden daisies in summer.  Good soil in sun.  Quite different to the low growing types.

A prairie flower, Coreopsis tripteris makes a good addition to a meadow or prarie style garden as well as a more traditional herbaceous border.  The clumps of upright stems lightly clothed with narrow leaves support open heads of flowers with yellow rays around a distinct reddish black centre.

In the wild Coreopsis tripteris can grow to 2.7m or more but in cultivation 1.2m to 1.8m is more typical.  Can be Chelsea-chopped if you want a lower, later flowering.

From the eastern half of the USA and Canada.
