Very pretty true-pink flowers from late spring to early summer. Makes a low carpet of evergreen leaves, useful around medium-sized perennials or grasses. Any drained soil in sun or light shade, 20cm.

'Berggarten' was the first form of Geranium x cantabrigiense with a decent pink flower, the previous pinks ('Cambridge' and 'Karmina' being distinctly mauve.  All make a good, low growing, evergreen groundcover that slowly spreads to fill the available space without swamping it's neighbours unless they are tiny!

The clear pink flowers are produced from May until early July, a few centimeters above the even carpet of rich green, shiny leaves to 15-20cm.  The calyces are bright pinkish-red and provide a warmth to the pink flowers and an added attraction after the flowers have finished.

Autumn brings interesting foliage colour with the cooler weather, the green tints reddish-purple around the edges and cold weather will bring red, orange and yellow leaves.  In spring the new green growth will eclipse the coloured leaves from the previous year as they die away.

Easy to grow in most drained soils in sun or part shade.

Introduced by Hans Simon in Germany in the mid 1990s.
