Clumps of greyish green leaves and upright stems of dark flowers in midsummer to 1m. Good autumn and winter seedheads. Reasonable soil in full sun.

Supposed to be a good variety for keeping it's seedheads overwinter instead of them collapsing in December as many do.

Molinia 'Winterfreude' is listed by some as a cultivar of M. c. ssp. arundinacea but it seems to be far too small for that so we place it under ssp. caerulea.
