Clumps of potato-like foliage and light brown bells in late winter and spring to 40cm. An unusual woodland plant from south-eastern Europe. Good soil in shade, will go dormant in later summer.
Naturally grows in deciduous woodland, particularly Beech, that will be damp in winter and spring, and then dry out in summer so it's useful for growing under deciduous trees and shrubs in the garden.
Very hardy.
Syn. Hyoscyamus scopolia.
