Eye-catching blue-purple tubular flowers in late summer and autumn on neat bushy plants covered with broad hairy leaves. Drained soil in a sunny position. 45cm.
Tightly clump forming with an almost woody rootstock, this Strobilanthes species is a good, long lived addition to a border, preferably in a warm spot to encourage early and plentiful flower. In a cold site or season flowering may not start until the autumn.
I feel that Strobilanthes naming and nomenclature is widely confused in horticulture and this may be the same plant that is often sold as Strobilanthes atropurpureus and sometimes as S. attenuata though I think these should all be distinct species!
