This form of this little known species has white flowers with a rich plum-pink colour to most of the petals. More or less clump forming, evergreen and ideal for dry shade!

For several years we have had this form growing under a large Phyllostachys (bamboo) in the driveway.  Under this bamboo the soil is sandy and very dry - the weeds gave up long-ago.  But, this Vinca performs very well there, with it's untidy clump of rich green foliage and flowers from late autumn, throughout winter, into spring.  The white flowers have a contrasting zone, almost like a thumbprint, on each lobe of a rich pink.

All forms of Vinca difformis can suffer from some frost damage but this can be prevented by growing them underneath overhanging shrubs, trees etc, or bamboo!

From south western Europe - France, Spain, Italy and neighbouring areas.
